Social entrepreneurship has emerged as an important mechanism for addressing complex societal challenges while promoting economic inclusion and sustainable development. Unlike conventional business enterprises that primarily emphasize financial returns, social enterprises pursue measurable social impact alongside economic sustainability. This paper investigates the contribution of social entrepreneurship to inclusive development through innovative business models, collaborative governance, and community engagement.
The study integrates theoretical perspectives from social innovation, entrepreneurship, public policy, and sustainable development to develop a conceptual framework explaining social enterprise performance. Key dimensions include mission-driven leadership, stakeholder collaboration, financial sustainability, innovation capability, impact measurement, and institutional support. The framework illustrates how social enterprises generate shared value by addressing issues such as poverty alleviation, healthcare accessibility, educational inclusion, environmental sustainability, and employment generation.
The paper also examines challenges facing social entrepreneurs, including limited access to capital, regulatory ambiguity, impact assessment difficulties, and organizational scalability. Government support programs, impact investing, philanthropic partnerships, and corporate social responsibility initiatives are identified as essential mechanisms for strengthening social enterprise ecosystems. Furthermore, digital technologies are increasingly enabling social entrepreneurs to expand service delivery, mobilize resources, and engage broader stakeholder communities.
The findings suggest that social entrepreneurship contributes significantly to sustainable development by integrating economic efficiency with social responsibility. Organizations that effectively balance financial viability and social impact are better positioned to create long-term societal value. The paper concludes that stronger institutional collaboration, innovative financing models, and supportive policy frameworks are essential for expanding the role of social entrepreneurship in achieving inclusive and sustainable economic development.
