Abstract

This study analyzes how Microsoft Corporation evolved its Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) initiatives between 2014 and 2024. The research traces the company's shift from basic headcount representation to a broader focus on employee sentiment, quantitative metrics, leadership accountability, structured learning, and talent pipelines. Using a descriptive-analytical case study design, we examine academic literature alongside official corporate disclosures. Our findings reveal that Microsoft's D&I trajectory was not a simple linear transition from diversity to inclusion. Instead, it unfolded as a cumulative expansion that embedded D&I principles deeply into core human resource operations. Furthermore, corporate evaluation systems expanded beyond demographic proportions to track employee experience, workplace culture, leadership performance, and management responsibility. We conclude that while Microsoft has institutionalized D&I across its structures, independent evaluations remain necessary to verify the actual organizational outcomes of these programs.
